After lunch some physical games and warm ups, another 2 hour workshop, snacks and a non-physical workshop about breaking into the circus business. In the mornings and evenings there will be optional meet-ups for coffee and dinner off site.
Why should I attend the circus creation LAB?
The circus creation LAB was designed in response to a repeated comment that we at the American Circus Alliance have heard from emerging pros: It’s so hard to make connections.
In this business connections are HUGE! Knowing people who are hiring and casting is an advantage, but having peers in circus communities across the country is also important. Connections with peers and with circus directors are the foundation that your circus career is built upon.
The circus creation LAB is designed to provide emerging pros with an intensive experience to build these types of connections through collaborative creation. You will be working with your peers, under the leadership of experienced creators and directors who are working in the circus world NOW. You will get a taste of each director’s style and method of creation, and perhaps learn more about your own style.
At the end of the 2 days you will have peers and pros from around the country who really know you, because you have shared a creative experience with them. Now that’s something to build upon!
