Pitch Your Act
The ‘Act Pitch’ is a biannual opportunity for ACA member artists and companies to make a
personal connection that goes beyond emailing promo materials.
The ACA’s Act Pitch is an event designed to help artists and producers/directors connect. It gives the directors a chance to discover new acts, and gives artists a chance to present their work (almost) in person. Our goal is to humanize the audition experience in a supportive environment, and to facilitate more circus professionals coming together.
Who?
The event happens over a video call, and lasts about 60 minutes. There are 10 pre-selected act presentations done by the artists themselves. And an assortment of producers and directors.
How is the Act Pitch structured?
Every artist will have a turn. Each artist presents themselves to everyone on the call (1min). And then shares an excerpt of their act (2min). The panel of producers/directors then take a moment to ask the artist questions (2-3 minutes). These questions are usually about the artists technical needs, their willingness to change styles or costumes, their availability, etc.
Applications:
Applications will open about 30 days before the next Act Pitch. However, if you want to start getting prepared in advance, here are some things you can get together.
- A link to a video of your full act (performance quality)
- CV for every artist in the act
- Links to any facebook, instagram or website you would like to share
- A short paragraph stating why you would like to participate
