A thrilling spectacle offering a twist on traditional circus and the classic variety-show. Enter the most unlikely setting for a circus, a factory. One where the workers are acrobats and the machines are circus props. A place where spectators will watch a contortionist perform on a turntable powered by unicyclists, they will be captivated by the trapeze artist flying high thanks to the spins of an acrobat inside a giant gear-like wheel and they will be stunned when the trampoline wall artists defy the laws of physics by walking on air. All the while they will be giggling at the antics of the comedic characters, impressed by the acro-dancing and enchanted by the story of laughter, love, flight and birdhouses.

Brave Space is a blanket fort, a hoopskirt, an impulsive congregation in the tiniest of tents. Inspired by the idea of creating community in trying times, it begins as a puddle of fabric and grows to encompass a world of wondrous circus. Intimate and low tech, the audience sits nose-to-nose with a female cast of bold acrobats to build the world we want to live in, even for only a few shared moments. Deeply intimate, Brave Space requires 100% trust between the performers and the audience who physically construct the show and keep the artists aloft.

We are a theatrical tented circus. Our core show is in a tent that seats about 1,100 people, and has performed each June for the last 37 years in St. Louis. Goodbye Party is an evening-length work of physical theater set in the offices of the going-out-of-business Earth the Planet, LLC. The name of this contemporary circus, Minty Fresh Circus, is inspired by our Afrofuturistic Muse, abolitionist and conductor of the Underground Railroad, Harriet Araminta Tubman (nicknamed Minty). Africans who were stolen, transported to the USA, and forced into chattel slavery have shapeshifted and recreated themselves over and over as a survival technique, thus becoming perpetually Fresh. Minty Fresh Circus, Conceived by Monique Martin, celebrates and investigates the power of American Black music as a healing, alchemical, and transformative force. This circus is an examination of African musical traditions and culture, of the transatlantic slave trade to the Americas, and the communication devices used amongst enslaved Africans.
